Dream No More of Hell and Hate

But my children will know thee and love thee, and this will make them free.

External Services:
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

- Edgar Allan Poe, 1830.

Hi, all!

Welcome to my public persona in its online format!

I'm a loud, angry feminist. My philosophy tends towards radical, though I disagree with them on sexuality-related issues. When women can be priests, bishops, cardinals, popes, rabbis and imams, when we acknowledge the female half of the Divine as on par with that of the male half, then we will achieved true equality. Riane Eisler, who wrote The Chalice and the Blade is the feminist thinker who has had the most influence on the formation of my own beliefs (though I'm not her disciple, and I'd love to get into a discussion with people about what she writes). Fair warning.

You may notice that I write about sewing and baking a lot. These are two of my hobbies, and I don't do them because they're feminine or not. I enjoy them because I like being creative and making stuff, especially for other people. Most everything I cook is for other people, and many of my sewing projects are given away. I also really hate the fashion industry, and find that I enjoy wearing clothes I've made myself more than almost anything I can buy.

I'm a recent graduate from UCLA with a Bachelor's in English. Yeah, useful, I know... but I do plan on becoming a rich and famous writer sometime in the near future. Current plan involves the deposing of Anne Rice. My current project has to do with the new rpg Houses of the Blooded, and is called A Game of Tears. I'm responsible for the letters signed Ismene. I also hope to be starting a Master's program for Library Science.

I'm also a Kinsey 2. Google Kinsey scale if you don't know what I mean by that.

Okay, now that that's out of the way... I'm a gaming nerd, hardcore. I cut my teeth on AD&D in high school years ago, and right now play in several different LARPs as well as the occasional off-and-on tabletop. I love to DM for tabletop, but I rarely have the time and great is my sorrow at that. I like gaming because it gives me a chance to be creative in a world that so often stifles the creative impulse.

I was raised Mormon, left at 17 and now publicly identify as a Gnostic. Yes, of course, there's more to it than that. I drop hints all over the place, go find 'em.

My three favorite bands are: Blind Guardian, Cruxshadows, and E Nomine. Wacken is my Mecca, and one day I shall make the hajj. I also really like Abney Park, a small steampunk band.

My three favorite drinks are: Rum & Coke, Coffee, and absinthe. I have had absinthe from six different countries. Mexican absinthe tastes like watered down minty Ny-Quil, Czech absinthe isn't much better, but French is so far the best, with Spanish right behind and American somewhere in the middle. I also really enjoy wine, though I am not a wine snob by any means.

My three favorite books are: Kushiel's Avatar by Jacqueline Carey, The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov, and The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft. That being said, I read a hell of a lot.

My three favorite films are: Secretary, Latter Days, and Kinsey. Which probably tells you a lot about my ideas on sex and sexuality.

My three favorite TV shows are: Babylon 5, True Blood and Big Love. House comes in a close fourth, mostly because I have a long-standing adoration of Sherlock Holmes. I also enjoy subversive kid's shows, like Avatar: The Last Airbender.

My three favorite games are: They used to be D&D and Vampire: The Masquerade. However, my tastes are changing. I've really started to get into Houses of the Blooded. Dying Kingdoms is a local boffer larp I really have taken a liking to after getting frustrated with the local vampire larps. And nothing beats Call of Cthulhu.

My three favorite Vampire Clans are: Follower of Set, Salubri warrior and Lasombra.

The best thing about my life are my friends - I love each and every one dearly, and look forward to the time I get with them.

Love as Thou Wilt

I will not stand for this
